Is my 14 lb cat too big for "The safety collar"?
I have a male cat that is muscular and weighs almost a year about 14 lbs. He recently learned to unlock "The safety collar" that is the past nine months. The safety collar is designed to activate when it is taken on something so the pot does not strangle or jammed. The latch is still working well, but I found it unlocked at the same place several times now (it seems to be doing this on purpose). The collar does not seem to bother him while he is on and he really should wear a collar because I live in the city and if it comes out the back door, I need to take every precaution that reduces to Me (no, I still have not a microchip, which can be next addition to his collar). Ideas? Is it just too big for this type of necklace? Is it fair to buy a necklace without robust security lock, or could it hurt? I am very careful to adjust his collar so I can fit two fingers under his regime. Thank you!
Latch clamps are too easy to get out of most cats, so I suggest a 12 "necklace that has an elastic loop in the middle. it serves the same objective as the collar cat safe, but cats can not get off. my daughter Kitty understood how to get these out too, so we buy collars now. These collars are easy to find at PetSmart or almost any company website.
